Presentation on the Minuteman Regional High School’s Proposal for a New or Renovated Building

Minuteman

On Tuesday, November 10, 2015 at 7:00 – 8:30 pm at the Beech Street Center, the Board of Selectman is sponsoring a presentation on a new Minuteman Regional Vocational and Technical High School.

On November 17th, Belmont’s representative on the Minuteman School Committee and Minuteman Building Committee will be asked to approve the schematic design for a potential $145 million new school.  Such an approval by the Minuteman School Committee and Building Committee essentially represents a recommendation by the Minuteman School District that the Massachusetts School Building Authority (MSBA) approve the project.  Should the MSBA subsequently approve the project, the current expectation is that the 16 towns in the Minuteman District will be asked sometime in the spring of 2016 to take a binding vote authorizing bond financing for the construction of a new school.

This meeting is an opportunity for residents, elected and appointed Belmont officials to learn more about the design and financing details about the project, to ask questions about the project, and to offer any thoughts that they may have about the potential building to Belmont’s representative on the Minuteman School Committee prior to the November 17th vote by the Minutemen School Committee and Building Committee. Representatives from Minuteman will be at the meeting to make a presentation and answer any questions about the proposed project.

Questions in advance of the meeting may be e-mailed to Selectmen@Belmont-ma.gov
