Logan CAC Rep to host Update Meeting on Airplane Noise

NEWS RELEASE:
Subject: Update Meeting on Logan Airplane Noise
Prepared By: Bob Reardon Jr, Public Information Specialist
Date: November 20, 2014

Representatives from Belmont and Watertown that serve on the Logan Airport Community Advisory Committee (Logan CAC) will host a public meeting on airplane noise from Logan airport on Wednesday, December 3, 2014. The purpose of the meeting is to update members of the community on the activities being taken in response to the changes in runway usage and resulting increase in noise over Belmont and Watertown. These changes are a result of the FAA’s runway 33L RNAV flight patterns that were implemented in the summer of 2013. These changes have led to significant increases in noise complaints from Belmont and Watertown residents. The meeting is expected to be attended by State Legislators including Representative Jonathan Hecht, Representative David Rogers and Senator William Brownsberger as well as a member of U.S. Representative Katherine Clark’s Staff. Representative Clark has been working with other Congressional Representatives as part of the Quiet Skies Caucus to advocate with the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) on noise related issues.

This is an informational meeting only, community members with specific complaints about air plane noise should direct them to the Massachusetts Port Authority Noise Abatement Hotline using the information listed below:
