Belmont Introduces "Books on Wheels" Program

Joint Program Between Library and Beech Street Center

The Belmont Public Library and Beech Street Center are pleased to announce a new joint program offering for the citizens of Belmont called “Books On Wheels”.

This program will offer delivery of Library materials to patrons unable to get out of their home. Books, films, audiobooks, and music will be available for delivery. All items owned by the Belmont Public Library will receive a one month loan period and no late fines will be charged if returned after the due date.  Items obtained through interlibrary loan may still be subject to owning library’s borrowing rules and loan periods.

Information packets are available at the Library. Ask a friend, family member or neighbor to come to the Library and pick up the packet for you which will include:

  • Books on Wheels Registration Application
  • Library Interest Survey
  • Books on Wheels – Policy.

Deliveries will be made by The Beech Street Center driver once a month on the 4th Wednesday of the month for October, November, and December, and then will shift to the 4th Thursday of the month in 2016.  Volunteers are welcomed for additional deliveries during the month. Patrons will also be allowed an additional card to give to a friend or family member interested in making individual deliveries to them. This will allow them access to that patrons account, the ability to select and check out materials, and pick up holds for them.  This permission must be given in writing through the Registration Application.  This program began in October and we are excited to watch it develop in the coming months. For more information please call the Belmont Public Library and speak to Director Peter Struzziero or Head of Circulation Lisa Cassidy. We look forward to this partnership and a new opportunity to take the Library out of the building and into our community.
