The Town does not contribute towards the premium cost of the plan (Vision Insurance is 100% employee-funded), but employees receive a group discount on the premiums, which are deducted on a pre-tax basis. Vision insurance is offered as an individual or family plan and provides coverage toward frames, lenses, additional eye exams, etc.
New Employee Premium "Make-Up"
Upon enrollment, the employee’s premium contributions will be calculated for the remaining months of the fiscal year. If this calculation indicates that the employee’s payroll deductions will not fully satisfy the required premium obligation, a “make-up” premium will be applied to the employee’s initial pay period(s) to ensure the full premium obligation is met.
This will appear on paystubs as "Vision MU" and is calculated based on a pro-rated monthly premium charge amount.
