Richardson Farm Historic District

The Richardson Farm Historic District was established in 2013 and includes the Joseph Bright and the Thomas Richardson houses as well as 10 acres of farmland - the last remaining active farmland in Belmont.

The farm has been in continuous cultivation since 1634 when, as part of a land grant, King Charles I of England deeded the property to Abraham Hill of Charlestown, a direct forbear of the current owners, the Ogilby family.

The 10 acres of agricultural land within the Historic District is further protected by an Agricultural Preservation Restriction held by the Belmont Land Trust and the American Farmland Trust. The agricultural land is currently operated as the Belmont Acres Farm, offering a yearly Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) program and Farm Stand.
