Vote by Mail, Absentee & Early Voting
Early Voting
Except for Local Town Elections, all elections now have an early voting period. This is typically one week before Primary Elections and two weeks before State and Federal elections, from Saturday to Friday. Early Voting always ends at Noon on the Friday before the Election. Hours will be posted when known.
The Town Clerk's office asks that any voter who requested a mailed ballot not also appear at Town Hall to vote early, especially during State or Federal Elections. The Town Clerk's office staff must cancel the mailed ballot to allow the voter to vote early and, during busy elections, this process will delay the voter's ability to cast their ballot and can impede other voters as well.
Vote by Mail
The Town Clerk's office recommends Vote by Mail for any voter who will be unavailable to vote in-person, either on Election Day or during the Early Voting period. Find out more information about the Vote by Mail process.
Once you have returned your voted mailed ballot, you may not later vote in person for that election.
Absentee Voting
While Vote by Mail ballots are more common, there are special circumstances where you may need to apply for an Absentee Ballot instead. Find more information about absentee ballot eligibility.
