Water Quality Investigation Underway in the
Winn's Brook Watershed

On July 6, 2007, the Town of Belmont received from the Department of Environmental Protection a Notice of Noncompliance for violations to 314 CMR: Division of Water Pollution Control.  Specifically, locations in the Wellington Brook watershed and the Winn's Brook watershed were tested and found to be in violation of water quality standards.

The Town of Belmont Office of Community Development – Engineering Division has been aware of issues in the Winn's Brook watershed for some time and had already completed water quality sampling and had committed to the next phase of the investigation, dye testing the sanitary sewer and drain system, before the Notice of Noncompliance was issued.
