Adult Use Marijuana Zoning By-Law(s) Development
In 2016, the residents of Massachusetts voted to legalize marijuaua. The Cannibas Control Commission (CCC) was created to oversee the licensing of marijuana establishments. The CCC adopted Rules and Regulations on March 23, 2018 and will begin issuing license shortly. At the 2018 Annual Town Meeting, passed an amendment requiring a Town-wide vote on whether to limit marijuana establishments to two retail stores only. The vote will occur on September 25 - if it does not pass than there will be no limits on the uses that can allowed in Town. Production, cultivation, and testing are the other uses that could be allowed if the vote does not pass. As a result, the Planning Board will be developing two Zoning By-Laws: one retail only, the other for all uses.
The Planning Board began its public engagement on June 19, 2018.
