Town and School Retiree Benefits 

Town and School retirees may utilize the links and documents below for further information on their benefits. Any retiree seeking to submit a benefit enrollment or change form must do so through the Town's Human Resources Department.  All enrollment forms, change forms or documents with personal information should be mailed to our office:

Eligibility 

Employees that retire are eligible to continue their insurance upon retirement or enroll within 30 days of retirement.  If a retiree chooses not to enroll during this time they will only become eligible if they can provide proof they lost health and/or dental insurance coverage elsewhere. Retirees with spouses and children under the age of 26 can continue to have their family on their plan until they age out.  Spouses are eligible to maintain insurance they are enrolled in if the retiree predeceases their spouse. To discuss the benefits and to answer any questions about enrolling in Town insurance upon retirement please contact the  Human Resources Department at 617-993-2740.

Health Insurance

Medicare Eligible Retirees Plan Information

Retirees that are 65 years or older MUST apply for Medicare Part A & B upon their retirement or when they turn 65.  The Town recommends retirees to apply for Medicare three months prior to your 65th birthday so you have plenty of time to receive your Medicare card and select a supplemental plan to enroll into.  Please notify the Town three to four months prior to your 65th birthday to review  the information you need enroll in Medicare A & B as well as the supplemental plan information offered through the Town to retirees and their spouses.  If you apply for Medicare A & B and are not eligible you must provide the Town the notice you receive stating you are not eligible and you can continue your HMO or PPO plan.  To apply for Medicare Parts A & B please contact the Social Security Office. The Town supplemental plans provide prescription coverage therefore you DO NOT need to apply for Medicare Part D.  Medicare Plans are on a calendar year with rates changing January 1 of each year and open enrollment held at the end of November.

Non-Medicare Eligible Retiree Plan Information

Retirees and their spouses that are not yet 65 years old or who are not eligible for Medicare Parts A & B are eligible to continue insurance through the HMO or PPO plans offered through the Town.

Dental Insurance

The Town offers retirees dental insurance coverage through Delta Dental. The plans offered through Delta Dental are group plans and are 100% retiree paid. Below are links to plan information, plan comparison, rate sheets and enrollment forms.

PPO Plus Premier Summary of Benefits 

Life Insurance

Retirees may continue the life insurance they were enrolled in as an employee. The Town's group life insurance policy is through Boston Mutual. The Basic Policy is for $2,000.00 and costs $3.07 a month.  If enrolled in Optional Life Insurance upon retirement you can remain enrolled until you age out at 75 years old.  If enrolled in Voluntary Life Insurance upon retirement you can continue until you age out at 75 years old but the coverage amount drops to $5,000.00.
