Belmont Farmers' Market Information Fair
The Belmont Farmers’ Market (BFM) will host their second annual Food Assistance Information Fair as part of the Opening Day celebration on June 1, 2023.
Everyone should have enough fresh nutritious food to live a healthy life. The primary goal of the event is informing shoppers about the many benefit programs that can help them stretch their food budgets. Organizers also want to highlight that food insecurity is a problem everywhere (including Belmont), and to emphasize the role that farmers’ markets play in combating it.
The Information Fair will include representatives of statewide and local organizations who will talk to people about SNAP (Food Stamps), the Healthy Incentives Program (HIP, instant rebates on produce bought with SNAP cards), and the Farmers Market Nutrition Program (FMNP, coupons for produce for WIC families and eligible seniors). Agencies participating in the event include Belmont Helps, the Belmont Food Pantry, and the Belmont Council on Aging.
