Dear Town Meeting Members,

Our next Special Town Meeting (STM) begins Monday, October 20 in hybrid format—you may attend in person (strongly encouraged) or remotely. The High School Auditorium is reserved for October 20, 22, and 27 (the 27th only if needed). My goal is to finish in two nights, wrapping up by or before 10:30 p.m. each evening.

Be Prepared

To conclude the STM in two evenings and avoid extremely late nights, Town Meeting Members must come well informed. Please:

• Attend the League of Women Voters Warrant Briefing tomorrow, Tuesday, October 7 at 7 p.m. You’ll hear explanations of every article, be able to ask questions in advance, and help Town officials be better prepared.

• Read the Warrant, motions, and other information (that is and will be posted here). Reviewing materials beforehand makes for better informed discussion and debate, and reduces time spent answering questions.
• Submit any amendment to motions by the deadline, Wednesday, October 15th, 4 PM, to the Town Clerk. Amendments must be submitted in writing, preferably by email to TownClerk@belmont-ma.gov or by hard copy placed in the Town Clerk Drop Box.

Why It Matters

Arriving prepared means fewer unnecessary questions, more meaningful discussion, and a smoother Town Meeting. It also makes it more likely we can conclude business in two evenings, saving both Town resources and your time.
