Dear Town Meeting Members,
This is some updated information on the Belmont Center Zoning Project for Wednesday, July 16, 2025. Currently staff has been refining the zoning developed by the consultant in a new Microsoft Word version. More on that below. Specifically:
- The Planning Board will hold its final topic-specific Public Hearing session on Tuesday, July 29, 2025 at 7:00 pm remote only. After this session, the Board will discuss design guidelines and then circle back to reviewing details in the draft By-Law.
- A new version of the By-Law has now been released to the Board and public. This (see link to page here) includes a redlined version showing changes since the last version released by the consultant (7/7/25) and also a clean copy--both from a new MS Word version developed by staff. If you have seen the Brookline-Harvard Street Code, you may notice some parallels. See upper right list of documents to find the new versions.
- We also uploaded a Planning Board Report for the 29th on this page.
- For those interested in the design elements of the By-Law, we have developed a Visual Preference Survey or VPS that is related to the Center. It is a VERY long survey so in case you'd like to take it, make sure to set aside at least 15 but more likely 20 minutes of time to take it.
Thanks again for your interest in this project and let us know if you have any questions – BelmontCenterZoning@belomont-ma.gov
