One Day Liquor Licenses

The Town of Belmont issues One Day Liquor Licenses under Massachusetts General Law Chapter 138 Section 14.

One Day Liquor Licenses are necessary for events that are held at facilities that don't hold a traditional liquor license. These include events taking place on public property, events open to the public, or other events where alcohol is being sold. 

Wine and Beer Only Licenses are available to all individuals or organizations, while All Alcohol Licenses are limited to non-profit groups. 

To apply, provide the required supporting documentation and a completed application to the Office of the Select Board / Town Administrator a minimum of 30 days prior to the event. If you have questions please call (617) 993-2610 or e-mail selectboard@belmont-ma.gov

Fee: All Alcohol (non-profit only) $75.00, Wine and Beer Only: $50.00

Required Supporting Documentation:

  1. Completed Town of Belmont Application Form
  2. Check payable to the "Town of Belmont" for the application fee.
  3. Copy of a valid bartender training certificate for anyone who will be serving alcohol at the event.
  4. Copy of Certificate of Liability Insurance showing proper insurance coverage and naming the Town of Belmont as an additional insured. Coverage should be provided for fire, premise liability and liquor liability. Minimum coverage for liquor liability must be $1,000,000 per occurrence and $2,000,000 in the aggregate.
  5. Letter from the property owner or manager stating they are aware of your application and have no objection to the issuance of a license.
