Off Leash Program for Dogs on Belmont Athletic Fields

Dogs, with a current license,  and their owners are permitted off leash on select Belmont Athletic fields providing they have a permit to do so.

Come meet ACO John Maguranis to have him meet and assess your dog and to go over the guidelines of the program

2017 Application

2017 Price per dog:

Resident: $50 (2nd dog $40)

Non-resident:
$70 (limited to 15 non-resident dogs, no discounts)        

Valid Jan 1 - Dec. 31, 2017

Permit is valid only for the following locations:

  • Belmont High School Fields (excluding the turf field or the running track)
  • Winn Brook
  • Grove St
  • Pequossette
  • Town Field

The Town of Belmont will issue NO MORE than 200 permits during a calendar year

Regulations

NO DOGS ALLOWED ON FIELDS WITHOUT A PERMIT

DOGS MUST WEAR THEIR IDENTIFYING TAGS AT ALL TIMES

DOGS ARE NEVER ALLOWED ON THE CHILDREN’S PLAYGROUNDS AND MUST REMAIN AT LEAST 50’ AWAY FROM THAT AREA

OWNERS MUST DEFER TO INSTRUCTION FROM DPW STAFF WHILE WORKING ON THE FIELDS: BE AWARE OF DPW VEHICLES AND EQUIPMENT ENTERING OR WORKING ON THE FIELDS

PERMITTED SPORTS OR OTHER GROUPS HAVE PRIORITY FOR FIELD USE

OWNER MUST HAVE PERMIT IN HIS POSSESSION WHILE ON THE FIELD

OWNER MUST HAVE A LEASH FOR EACH DOG HE IS ACCOMPANYING

NO MORE THAN 4 DOGS PER OWNER/WALKER

OWNERS SHOULD DISCOURAGE EXCESSIVE BARKING

OWNERS MUST MAINTAIN EFFECTIVE VERBAL CONTROL OF OFF-LEASH DOGS

OWNERS ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR PICKING UP AFTER THEIR DOG

DOGS MUST BE LEASHED IF YOU ARE A SPECTATOR AT A SPORTING EVENT

FIELD USE IS PROHIBITED DURING SCHOOL OPENING AND CLOSING HOURS

FIELD USE IS PROHIBITED DURING SCHOOL RECESS

PARKING IS PROHIBITED AT BELMONT HIGH SCHOOL WHILE SCHOOL IS IN SESSION

Remember that our parks are for the enjoyment of all, both humans and dogs. Please respect the rights of humans playing on the field and share the space as needed. We are a better community when we cooperate with each other.

Failure to comply or a dog's/owner's behavior problems may result in the loss of your permit and may result in a ticket being issued by the Animal Control Officer.

Before you are issued your initial permit, you must meet with Belmont's Animal Control Officer, for a pet behavior assessment and a review of the regulations. .  Dates and location for these assessments will be posted on the Recreation Department webpage and the Facebook pages of both the Belmont Recreation Department and  Belmont Animal Control
