Public Health Planning Group Meets

The Public Health Planning Group formed several years ago by the Belmont Health Department to formulate strategies and responses to emerging disease threats such as SARS and H1N1 met on October 21st to discuss the recent developments regarding the West African Ebola outbreak and the events in Dallas Texas. The planning group is made up of representatives from the Health Department, the Belmont Emergency Management Agency, Belmont Police and Fire and Dispatch as well as Town Administrator and other key department heads. The group is scheduled to meet every two weeks or more often as required to address any needs that may impact the health and wellbeing of Belmont residents for the duration of the Ebola outbreak and to ensure a coordinated effort from the Town.

In addition, Town Departments are receiving information and frequent updates from the Massachusetts Department of Public Health and other agencies on this issue.  The Town of Belmont will continue to utilize the town web site and social media to distribute timely messages as needed.
