Belmont to Hold Purple Heart Ceremony:

Belmont – In December 2015 the Town of Belmont’s Board of Selectmen issued a proclamation, which allowed Belmont to be officially recognized by the Military Order of the Purple Heart as a “Purple Heart Community”. As a newly recognized Purple Heart Community the Veteran’s Services Officer is looking to identify local Veterans who have either been awarded the Purple Heart Medal or have a relative who has been awarded the Purple Heart Medal posthumously. If you or someone in your family has been awarded the Purple Heart Medal please contact Veteran’s Service Officer Bob Upton at (617) 993-2725 or E-mail rupton@belmont-ma.gov.

In addition, there will be an official ceremony to recognize Purple Heart Recipients on Sunday, August 7, 2016 begining at 1:00 pm. This event will be held at the Belmont Memorial Library, located at 336 Concord Avenue, and will be open to the public. For more information about the ceremony please contact Veteran’s Service Officer Bob Upton at (617) 993-2725 or E-mail rupton@belmont-ma.gov.
