Senior Center Building Committee Meeting
April 7, 2009

Absent: Susan Burgess-Cox, Walter Guertin, Bill Lovallo
The Committee met to discuss issues regarding furniture and equipment purchases. Penny Schafer outlined the following:
The original budget for FF&E was $260,490
Commitments have been made for the following:
Technology $34,536 Computers and r3elated equipment for Lab and Offices
Telephones $24,245
Security $29,759
Fitness $36,000 Reserve
Total Remaining without using any contingency:
$157,950
Total cost of all items on list:
$186,807
The committee then discussed various options for staying within available funds in base bid package by placing items on a list of bid alternates.
They reduced the number of standard chairs in the base bid to provide for enough chairs for large group functions in the MP Room. Extra chairs could then be used in class and computer rooms and the moved as needed for major events in the MP Room. They also reduced the outdoor furniture and eliminated second floor hall furniture and balcony furniture from the base bid.
The bid alternate list was established in the following order:
Alt # 1 Adds in half of the remaining standard chairs
Alt # 2 Adds in the rest of standard chairs
Alt # 3 Adds in the rest of outdoor furniture (but not the balcony furniture)
Alt # 4 Adds in the second floor hall furniture
Alt # 5 Adds in the balcony furniture
The committee will work with Kevin Looney in preparing the bid documents.
On a motion to adjourn by Neil Hegarty, seconded by Paul Laffey, the Committee voted unanimously to adjourn at 5:30 PM.
