Blasting at the former McLean Hospital Property near Trapelo Road has resumed. It is scheduled daily until completed (weather dependent) until at least the end of August 2008. Blasting will be conducted in the area of Trapelo Road between Pleasant Street and Waverley Oaks Apartments.
When the blasting schedule changes, every effort will be made to update this web page. Blasting is weather dependent and is subject to cancellation or termination without prior notice. There is always Belmont Fire Department personnel on site when blasting operations are in progress.
Please be aware of the following signals. Blast signals shall be clearly audible for a distance of 250 feet of the blast site.
WARNING SIGNAL: Three long blasts five minutes prior to blast signal.
BLAST SIGNAL: Two blasts one minute prior to the shot.
ALL CLEAR SIGNAL: A prolonged blast following the inspection of the blast area
If you feel that you have sustained damage from blasting, you should contact the Fire Prevention Office at 617-993-2210. You will need a specific date and time of when the damage occurred to lodge a complaint.
