Passport Acceptance Agent
The Belmont Town Clerk’s Office has been designated as a passport acceptance facility for the US Department of State. This is applicable for all new applicants as well as for all minor children. Those adults who qualify to renew an existing passport can submit directly to the U.S. Dept of State.
Passport appointments are conducted in a private conference area, convenient for families or individuals.
Please call the Town Clerk's office at 617-993-2600 to make your appointment with the Passport Agent.

First Time Passport Applicants:
·       Appointments are necessary; made by calling 617-993-2600.
Appointments are available Monday through Friday 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.. mornings are preferred.

·       For a child under the age of 16, both parents or the legal guardians must appear in person to
        file a passport application for a child 16 years and younger.
(Refer to the website below or the passport application for instructions if only one parent can appear with the child)

·       Application forms for new passports as well as renewals are available at the Town Clerk's office or online.

Renewal of Current Passports for Adults is done directly with the US Dept of State. Just complete your form, supply all the proper documentation and mail to the address on the application. Minors still must file with a passport agent.

At the time of appointment, each applicant is required to appear in person and present the following:

o       The completed application
o       Proof of U.S. citizenship
o       Proof of identity
o       Two (2) recent identical passport photos
o       For minor children, both parents must present valid ID
o       Fees: method of payment in the form of a check for the U.S. Department of State and    $25.00 payment (separate check or cash) for the Town of Belmont as the acceptance agent for each passport.

Paper copies of the passport applications are available at the Town Clerk's office.

The US Passport Office estimates an average turnaround time of 4 to 6 weeks to receive the passport once filed.
